Our intention at Pranayoga is to not only build a local and a global community where harmony, balance and peace is the objective, but to bring forth, and fully alive, the traditional roots of what Yoga truly is - this, ultimately is an opportunity to bring forth and cultivate, true wellbeing, physical, emotional, spiritual and social health.
Classes at pranayoga promote a healthy body and mind, good posture, flexibility, strength, mindfulness and relaxation.

We usually feel the benefits of our yoga practice quite early, if we leave the class with a feeling of well being,then the benefits of yoga have already began to reside within.
The absolute gift of yoga is that it is suitable for all, regardless of age and fitness level.
We have a range of classes from beginner to experienced so we ask new students to call before attending so that we can guide you into the appropriate class.
We offer Vinyasa, Yin & Restorative Yoga,Yoga Workshops, Meditation, Tai Chi & Soundhealing Workshops, & Yoga Retreats - local & global - Free Community Yoga in Machattie Park.

When we try something new, we grow.
In our practice, sometimes ‘new’ can mean trying a complex pose we haven’t tried before — and at other times it means finding the courage to put our ego aside to take a less challenging version of a pose when it better serves our body or mind that day.
It’s in this space of listening that we learn self compassion, patience and the ability to tune into our subtle energy.
It’s here we find our yoga.

I think that’s one of the many reasons
I remain devoted to it; it also makes the physical aspect so different to other physical practices.

It’s not about punishing ourselves or pushing or straining.
Instead it IS about meeting ourselves exactly where we are.
Every practice is a clean slate.
A new encounter back with ourselves. Just like each day is a new one.
The only improvements we are looking for are building greater senses of COMPASSION for ourselves.

As someone who does not enjoy cold plunges
(I mean, no one does, but the feelings after are great), I was pleasantly surprised at how much I LOVE ice baths for the face.
Submerging your face in cold water is a simple, yet effective way to regulate your nervous system.
It stimulates the ~vagus nerve~ which helps relax and slow down your heart rate, counteracting stress.

How many times have you heard this one “yoga is good for flexibility but you’re not going to get strong
or build muscle” !!! 🤔
The reality is that every single muscle in the body needs to engage and stabilize in even the simplest posture.
There is nothing that has transformed my core strength, control and body composition as much as my yoga practice. 🧘♀️
The simple act of holding a truly aligned chaturanga requires a great amount of strength and even though the practice can appear effortless is definitely isn’t!
As we start to go deeper into our own practice ... and crucially ... slow everything down and work at removing ALL momentum the need for true integral strength increases ... and then we learn to float and to invert and the possibilities of this incredible human body are limitless.
Yoga makes me feel powerful,
and strong and capable.
It’s helped me to fall in love with what my body can DO rather than what it looks like

Anjali Mudra
The Sanskrit word Anjali means to offer or salutation, which explains its popularity as a form of greeting (salutation) in Asian countries.
It is also called the prayer pose and it serves to bring into balance the feminine and masculine (yin and yang) energies in your body, connecting the left and right hemispheres of the brain and increasing mindfulness and focus
To form the Anjali Mudra, press the right and left palm equally into each other, connecting the hands all the way from the base through the palms and fingertips.
Do this with both hands.
It's clear that mudras are a key component of a balanced yoga practice - one that emphasises equally the postures, the breath and meditation 🙏🏿

My yoga classes work on both strength and flexibility.
Having one without the other is like building your house on sand.
Being flexible alone doesn't support your foundations and being strong alone doesn't allow room for movement.
Having both strength and flexibility forms a body and mind that is strong yet soft.
A focused body and mind that has a depth in the knowing and the seeing.
A strong foundation provides steadiness and balance.
A flexible disposition gives you room to change and space to create.

Benefits Of YOGA
Yoga is a process of self discovery, an eternal journey into finding your center.
Some people ask why we need advanced postures if yoga is about the inner journey.
Handstand was one of my greatest struggles, it pushed me to limit of possibility, it opened a whole new world of awareness when I finally found balance. Everybody and every body needs to be challenged and there is a pose that will test everyone.
Some people because of natural strength or flexibility will not find their edge until they try an advanced pose, but that doesn't make their journey more valid than someone who finds their challenge in a forward bend.
Yoga is not a bend-off.
Handstand is not the gold medal.
What counts is the quality of work that you put in to being a better person every day.🧘♀️✨🌺
